The case file opens on Place Bellecour, the wide square at the centre of Lyon between the two rivers. The trail crosses the water into Vieux Lyon and the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, then climbs the slope beneath the Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière. It is a self-guided detective game played on foot, and the old city is where the evidence sits. Lyon gives you two levels to work with: flat streets along the river and a real climb up to Fourvière, so comfortable shoes matter more here than in most cities. Teams are up to four people on a single phone, and groups larger than that split into several teams. Couples, families with children, colleagues and solo players all handle it fine. No guide walks with you and no start time is fixed, so you begin when the day suits you. How to play. Getting started takes a few minutes on the square before you set off. Book the City Game. You break codes, take the photographs the app asks for and listen to digital witnesses whose stories do not agree.
