Sultanahmet Meydanı is the square where the case begins, a few steps from the entrance to the Basilica Cistern. The trail then works north through Istanbul, past the Binbirdirek cistern and on in the direction of Süleymaniye. It is a murder mystery game played on foot, with the old city as the crime scene. This part of Istanbul has slopes and cobbles, so decent shoes help, and the pace is yours to set. Families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues all get on with it, and there is nothing stopping a single player. One team is up to four people sharing a phone; larger groups buy more tickets and split. No guide accompanies you, and you pick your own moment to start rather than meeting a group somewhere.
