In Gouda the game starts on the Markt, in front of the town hall that stands alone in the middle of the square. From there the route works its way around the Sint-Janskerk and past De Goudse Waag, then into the narrow streets behind them. It is a self-guided walking tour built as a detective game, and the old centre is where it plays out. Distances in Gouda are short and the ground is flat, which keeps the route manageable for families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues, and it can be done solo. Up to four players share one phone as a team; when there are more of you, split into separate teams and compare notes afterwards.
