At Ek Balam, you’ll walk through towering structures, ceremonial plazas and the impressive acropolis, where intricate stucco details and carved façades still protect the tomb of ruler Ukit Kan Lek Tokʼ. From the upper levels, you can enjoy a panoramic jungle view that makes the site feel alive and powerful, while your guide explains how this city once stood among the great capitals of the Mayan world. . After the ruins, you continue to a cultural stop and regional buffet. Here you’ll see artisans working stone, taste handmade corn tortillas prepared by Mayan women, and try Xtabentún, a traditional honey-anise liqueur.
