The starting point is the National Archives of Qatar in Doha, and the route heads from there into the restored quarter beside it. It passes the Msheireb Museums, reaches Al Koot Fort and carries on into the alleys of Souq Waqif. This is a self-guided murder mystery game, played on foot across the older part of Doha. The distances in this part of Doha are modest and the streets are level, so families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues can all take it on, and it works alone as well. A team can hold four people and one phone between them, with larger groups splitting into several teams. No guide accompanies you and no start time is fixed, which lets you pick a cooler hour of the day. How to play. The case in Doha begins after four steps. Book the City Game. Check the instructions email. Download the Loquiz app. Start playing whenever you like. The murder of Balthasar is what you are investigating. Codes have to be worked out, photographs taken at set points, and the statements of digital characters weighed against one another. Katara Mosque appears on the trail, and every puzzle you solve takes another name off the list of suspects. If several teams start at the same time the investigation becomes a race, which is why it also works as a teambuilding exercise. Pause when the heat asks for it, resume later, and close the case in Doha at your own pace.
