The starting point is the Grote Kerk in Breda, on the edge of the Grote Markt. From there the trail runs out to the Kasteel van Breda and back through the lanes that ring the old centre. It is a murder mystery game you walk yourself, with the city standing in for the case file. Families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues all play it, and so does the occasional lone detective. One phone per team, up to four people; more than that and you split into two teams with a ticket each. The centre of Breda is compact and level, and the walk between the church and the park never gets demanding, so the day stays as slow or as brisk as you make it. No guide, no fixed start. The case is the murder of Balthasar. Clues arrive as codes to break, photographs to take and digital characters whose statements need testing. One of them was supposedly at the Spanjaardsgat when it happened, another somewhere in Valkenberg, and a third remembers a figure leaving the Willem Merkxtuin in a hurry. Each answer you get right removes a suspect. Send several teams out and it becomes a race between them, which is what makes it a practical teambuilding activity as well as a family afternoon.
