The case opens in front of the Catedral Primada de Colombia and leads out into the streets of Bogotá from there. It is a self-guided murder mystery game: no guide, no group to keep up with, only a trail of clues to follow. Bogotá itself provides the setting, and the app on your phone holds the evidence. The old centre sits high up, and the streets around the cathedral rise and fall, so the walking asks a little more here than in a flat city. It still suits families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues, and one person can play it alone. Up to four people share a phone as a single team, and larger groups buy extra tickets and split into teams that work separately. Nothing starts at a set hour and nobody meets you. How to play. Four short steps come first. Book the City Game. Check the instructions email. Download the Loquiz app. Start playing whenever you like. The case is the murder of Balthasar. You decode messages, complete photo tasks and gather statements from digital characters whose versions of events do not match. The search moves through the blocks around the cathedral, and each puzzle solved takes another suspect out of the running. When several teams play at once the fastest solution wins, which makes it a straightforward teambuilding activity. Break off for coffee, return to the case afterwards, and finish it in Bogotá whenever the day allows.
