Victoria Square is where the case begins, with Birmingham Town Hall standing over it on its columns. From the square the route crosses Chamberlain Square, reaches the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and carries on to St Philip's Cathedral in its churchyard. This is a self-guided detective murder mystery game, played on foot and worked out as you walk. The centre is compact and largely pedestrianised, so families with children, groups of friends, couples and work teams can all take it on, and playing alone is perfectly possible. A team is up to four people on one phone; a bigger group buys extra tickets and splits, which usually makes the whole thing livelier. Birmingham gets busy on a Saturday, so teams tend to step out of the flow to talk an answer through. There is no guide with you and no fixed start time. How to play.
