In Bergen the case opens at the Ludvig Holberg statue by the water and turns straight into the old quarter. The route runs along Bryggen, up to Bergen Cathedral and back down towards the foot of the Fløibanen funicular. It is a self-guided murder mystery game, walked at your own pace, with the harbour side of Bergen as the setting. Families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues play it, and a single player can take on the same case. A team is four people at most sharing one phone, so larger groups take extra tickets and split up. Bergen has weather, and the wooden lanes behind Bryggen are narrow and often wet, which is worth knowing before you set out. Nobody guides the group and no starting time is fixed. How to play. There are codes to work out, photo tasks to complete and digital characters whose statements come apart under pressure. The Rosenkrantz Tower and the grounds of Bergenhus Fortress are both on the trail, and each answer you get right cuts the suspect list down. With more than one team out at the same time it becomes a race, which is what makes it a workable teambuilding activity. Break off when the rain gets serious, pick it up later, and close the case in Bergen when you are ready.
