In Bastia the case opens at the Monument aux Morts on Place Saint Nicolas, with the sea on one side and the old town on the other. From there the route drops into the narrow streets around the Église Saint Jean-Baptiste and down to U Vechju Portu, the old harbour. It is a self-guided murder mystery game in which the town itself holds the evidence. The centre of Bastia is small and the distances between clues are short, though the stretch up to Jardin Romieu is a genuine climb. Families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues all play it the same way, and it works on your own as well. A team is up to four people sharing one phone; larger groups buy extra tickets and split into separate teams. Nobody is walking ahead of you as a guide, and there is no fixed start time to catch.
