Almería puts the first clue at the Ayuntamiento, the town hall on the main square, and sends you off into the old streets behind it. The route reaches the cathedral, follows the Rambla de Almería down towards the water and completes its loop in the Parque Nicolás Salmerón. It is a detective game played on foot, and the trail stays inside the old centre. The centre is compact and mostly level, so the walking is undemanding even in the heat of the afternoon, when the shaded side of the Rambla is the side to stick to. Teams are one to four people with a single phone between them, and larger parties break into several teams. Families, groups of friends, couples and colleagues all get the same game, and playing on your own is entirely workable. No guide accompanies you and no fixed start time applies. How to play.
